Prostitutes sign confuses motorists

Let's see another strange road sign. I watched "Phooying yaak roo" this morning and they showed us this sign which is in Italy, more specific in the city of Treviso in northern Italy.

The sign states 'Attenzione Prostitute'. The problem is that it really confuses motorists and they don't really understand what the sign tries to tell them.

Does it means to watch out the prostitues crossing the road or to be careful of the prostitutes or to tell you that they are around there to pick up? I doubt it too!

Warning: Drunk People Crossing!

Romanian officials are posting signs to deal with a traffic issue - cars running over intoxicated pedestrians. The Mayor of the town of Pecica, Petru Antal, is concerned that drivers risk running over local residents who over indulge at the town's bars.

“We have to target the drivers because by the time the pedestrians get into this state they are beyond caring,” Antal said.

Dao Xiang (稻香)

I think you probably know "Chou Chieh-lun" or we know him as "Jay Chou". He is a Taiwanese musician, singer, producer, director and also actor. He is well-known for composing all his own songs and songs for other singers. Many of his works fall into contemporary R&B, rap, and rock genres. Moreover, he can play a lot of musical instruments which you can see in many of his music videos, for example piano, violin, cello, guitar, drum, guzheng, keyboard ....

And the song I post todayis the song from his 9th album Capricorn , "Dào Xiāng" (Rice Aroma/Paddy Fragrance). It is meaningful and encourages people not to give up their dreams even when facing difficulties in life.

ทำไม 1 โหลต้องมี 12 ชิ้น

จำนวน 12 ในหนึ่งโหลของไทยนั้นสัมพันธ์กับระบบนับจำนวนของต่างชาติซึ่งมีคำว่า dozen หมายถึง 12 เช่นเดียวกัน

ย้อนกลับไปหาที่มาคำว่า dozen ถือกำเนิดจากชาวสุเมเรียนในเมโสโปเตเมียซึ่งเชื่อกันว่าเป็นชนชาติแรกที่สร้างสัญลักษณ์การนับตัวเลขในชีวิตประจำวันด้วยการเปล่งเสียงเรียก

ต่อมาในช่วง 3,100 ปี ก่อนคริสตกาล ...... ชาวสุเมเรียนเขียนจำนวนตัวเลขเป็นรูปลิ่ม และสร้างระบบจำนวนขึ้นมาจากฐาน 60 ซึ่งง่ายต่อการหารด้วยจำนวนต่างๆ แบ่งเป็นแฟ็กเตอร์ (ส่วนที่คูณกันขึ้นเป็นจำนวน) ได้แก่ 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 15, 20, และ 30

คำว่า dozen มีความหมายมาจาก "5 ส่วนของ 60" (12 คูณ 5 เท่ากับ 60) ภาษาละตินหมายถึง 12 ขณะที่ชาวโรมันถือว่าเลข 12 เป็นเลขศักดิ์สิทธิ์ จึงนำมาสร้างระบบการนับปี แบ่งให้มี 12 เดือน ส่วนพ่อค้าแม่ขายในในสมัยโบราณก็นิยมใช้ 12 ขายของ เพราะสะดวกและแยกส่วนได้ง่ายกว่าเลข 10 และใช้เรื่อยมาจนทุกวันนี้

นอกจากนี้ยังมีเรื่องเล่าว่า ในช่วงยุคกลางของอังกฤษพ่อค้าขนมปังจะต้องถูกลงโทษหนัก หากตัดขายขนมปังในน้ำหนักที่ต่ำกว่าความเป็นจริง ขณะที่พ่อค้าขนมปังในยุคนั้นก็ไม่ได้มีความรู้นับจำนวนอะไร กลัวจะพลาดระหว่าง 11 ก้อนกับ 12 ก้อนจึงหันไปใช้วิธีกันเหนียว คือตัดขนมปัง 13 ก้อนเวลาที่จะขายขนมปังหนึ่งโหล กรณีนี้หนึ่งโหลเลยมี 13 ชิ้น ซึ่งไม่เกิดขึ้นบ่อยนัก

ส่วนนักจิตวิทยาบางคนเคยทดสอบความแตกต่างระหว่างคนที่ชอบเลข 12 มากกว่าเลข 10 ว่าเป็นคนที่ยืดหยุ่นและอ่อนโยนกว่า อันนี้ก็ฟังไว้เล่นๆ ได้

ข้อมูลจากเว็บไซต์วิกิพีเดีย ระบุว่า โหลมาจากภาษาอังกฤษว่า Dozen รากศัพท์ภาษาละตินว่า duodecim เชื่อว่าเป็นการนับเลขรวมกลุ่มแบบแรกๆ เพราะตัวเลข 12 มาจากฐานการนับรอบดวงจันทร์โคจรรอบดวงอาทิตย์ รู้จักว่าเป็นระบบจำนวนฐานสิบสอง หรือทวาทิศนิยม (duodecimal system) 12 โหลเรียกว่า 1 กุรุส (a gross) การนับโหลสะดวกสบายเพราะตัวคูณและพหุคูณคิดได้ง่าย เช่น 12 เท่ากับ 3 X 2 X 2 หรือ 360 เท่ากับ 20 X 3
