Alexander's last words

I've got this as a forward email. Alexander's last word is the great lesson for us and especially to follow as long as we are still alive since for him it seems like he enlighted this when it was time for him to leave this world, the people whom he loved and what he had done behind.  As we know that when we die, we cannot take anything with us. Let's share our happiness with the others now.

Alexander, the great Greek king. after conquering many kingdoms, was returning home. On the way, he fell ill and it took him to his death bed. With death staring him in his face, Alexander realized how his conquests, his great army, his sharp sword and all his wealth were of no consequence.


He now longed to reach home to see his mother’s face and bid her his last adieu. But, he had to accept the fact that his sinking health would not permit him to reach his distant homeland. So, the mighty conqueror lay prostrate and pale, helplessly waiting to breathe his last. He called his generals and said, “I will depart from this world soon, I have three wishes, please carry them out without fail.” With tears flowing down their cheeks, the generals agreed to abide by their king’s last wishes.
 
 
“My first desire is that,” said Alexander, “My physicians alone must carry my coffin.” After a pause, he continued, “Secondly, I desire that when my coffin is being carried to the grave, the path leading to the graveyard be strewn with gold, silver and precious stones which I have collected in my treasury.

  

“The king felt exhausted after saying this. He took a minute’s rest and continued. “My third and last wish is that both my hands be kept dangling out of my coffin.” The people who had gathered there wondered at the king’s strange wishes. But no one dare bring the question to their lips.

  

Alexander’s favorite general kissed his hand and pressed them to his heart. “O king, we assure you that your wishes will all be fulfilled. But tell us why do you make such strange wishes?”

  

At this Alexander took a deep breath and said: “I would like the world to know of the three lessons I have just learnt. I want my physicians to carry my coffin because people should realize that no doctor can really cure any body. They are powerless and cannot save a person from the clutches of death. So let not people take life for granted.

  

The second wish of strewing gold, silver and other riches on the way to the graveyard is to tell People that not even a fraction of gold will come with me. I spent all my life earning riches but cannot take anything with me. Let people realize that it is a sheer waste of time to chase wealth.

And about my third wish of having my hands dangling out of the coffin, I wish people to know that I came empty handed into this world and empty handed I go out of this world.”

  

Alexander’s last words: “Bury my body, do not build any monument, keep my hands outside so that the world knows the person who won the world had nothing in his hands when dying“.With these words, the king closed his eyes. Soon he let death conquer him and breathed his last.

- ความปรารถนาข้อแรกของข้าพเจ้า : ข้าพเจ้าขอให้แพทย์ผู้รักษาเป็นผู้แบกโลงศพของข้าพเจ้า

- ความปรารถนาข้อที่สอง : เมื่อแบกโลงศพของข้าพเจ้าไปยังสุสาน เส้นทางที่นำโลงศพไปสู่สุสาน
  ขอให้โปรยด้วย ทองคำ เงิน และอัญมณีต่างๆซึ่งข้าพเจ้าได้สะสมไว้ในท้องพระคลัง

- ความปรารถนาข้อที่สาม : ขอให้นำมือทั้ง 2 ข้าง ของข้าพเจ้า ห้อยไว้ข้างโลงศพ

  

ผู้คนทั้งหลาย ที่ได้มารวมกันอยู่ ต่างสงสัย ในความปรารถนาดังกล่าว แต่ไม่มีใครกล้าถาม หนึ่งในขุนพลอันเป็นที่รักยิ่งของกษัตริย์อเล็กซานเดอร์ ได้นำมือของอเล็กซานเดอร์ขึ้นจุมพิต และแนบมือนั้นไว้ที่หน้าอกของเขา พร้อมเอ่ยว่า องค์พระราชา... พวกเราพร้อมจะเติมเต็มตามความปรารถนาของพระองค์ เพียงแต่ขอพระองค์โปรดบอกเหตุผลว่า ทำไมพระองค์จึงขอให้ดำเนินการเช่นนั้น

- ที่ข้าพเจ้าอยากให้โปรย ทอง เงิน บนเส้นทางไปสู่สุสานก็เพื่อจะบอกผู้คนทั้งหลายว่า... แม้แต่เศษเสี้ยวเดียวของแก้วแหวน เงินทอง ซึ่งข้าพเจ้าหามาได้ ข้าพเจ้าก็เอาไปไม่ได้

  

- และความปรารถนาข้อสุดท้าย ... ที่ขอให้นำมือทั้ง 2 ข้างของข้าพเจ้าห้อยไว้ข้างนอกโลง ก็เพื่อว่า ผู้คนจะรู้เอาไว้ว่า ข้าพเจ้ามามือเปล่าในโลกนี้และข้าพเจ้าก็จากโลกนี้ไปอย่างมือเปล่า

  

สุดท้ายในคำกล่าวของอเล็กซานเดอร์ “ขอให้ฝังข้าพเจ้า ไม่ต้องสร้างอนุสรณ์สถานใดๆ ปล่อยให้มือทั้ง 2 ห้อยอยู่ข้างนอกโลงเพื่อที่โลกจะได้รู้ว่า ......

“บุคคลผู้ซึ่งเอาชนะมาแล้วทั้งโลก ..... ในที่สุดก็ไม่เหลืออะไรติดมือไปเลย แม้แต่นิดเดียว”

Art Papier by DM.

Again this is the art from white paper by the French artist "DM". He uses Canson paper (mainly Montval 185 gr) for his creations and turns this fragile paper into something beautiful by cutting, folding and glueing. Sometimes it takes up to 70 hours to finish these creations. Here is some of his artwork.

I still remember when I was very young, my father often played this song when we were driving in the car. I listened to her songs so many times that I can sing along een though it's not correct. Her voice is very beautiful. Though you and me don't know what it means, you'll think that it's great!

She was born in Taiwan. Thais know her name as "Dèng Lìjūn"

Teng died from a severe asthma attack while on holiday in Chiang Mai, Thailand at the age of 42

Creative Paper Trees by Yuken Teruya

What else can we do something from the toilet paper rolls apart from a pencil cylinder that kids do?

Let's have a look of what the artist, Yuken Teruya transforms from useless toilet paper roll into something that you have to say "Wow! that's beautiful."

Yuken Teruya is an artist based in Brooklyn. He was born in Okinawa, Japan in 1973. He creates his art works by cutting trees out of everyday objects like cardboard toilet paper rolls, paper bag and newspaper. In doing this, he doesn't add or remove anything from the material itself!

Silvas Capitalis (Forest Head) sits In the middle of England’s Kielder Forest. It was created by American-based SIMPARCH. This large anthropomorphic offering was inspired by the Celtic gods of Britain whom are frequently anonymous and depicted merely by the head alone.

Blooming Business Cards

The card works like a miniature house-plant, growing alfalfa

The logo was also cut into a 'seed stencil' that allowed the logo to be
grown on either earth or lawn; on uncut grass,
the message would remain hidden until the area was mown.

Classic coca cola posters

I just saw this set of classic coca cola posters from a website (forward mail). These photos are all new to me and I don't know what year it came out. By the way, they're all beautiful, especially the first one which I like most.



I love to wacth the new advertisements on TV and see how creative it is. We can learn the culture from where the ads is made. In my country (Thailand), it seems like we mostly focus on whitening lotion, all kind of cosmetics which I think that it's too much! But we have lots of interesting ads as well. All right! That's nothing to do with the coca cola, so let's see the photos now!

The Donkey mentality‏

THE DONKEY

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal criedpiteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do.Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbours to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkeyrealized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He wasastonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back,the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer's neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal,he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

MORAL

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick togetting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each ofour troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.

2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happen.

3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.

4. Give more.

5. Expect less

Ode To Plurals

We'll begin with a box, and the plural is boxes,

But the plural of ox becomes oxen, not oxes.

One fowl is a goose, but two are called geese,

Yet the plural of moose should never be meese.

You may find a lone mouse, or a nest full of mice,

Yet the plural of house is houses, not hice.

If the plural of man is always called men,

Then why shouldn't the plural of pan be called pen?

The masculine pronouns are he, him and his,

Then shouldn't the feminine be she, shim and shis!

Let's face it, English is a crazy language.

Consider: There is no egg in eggplant, no ham in hamburger,

and neither apple nor pine in pineapple.

Also, English muffins weren't invented in England.

We take English for granted, but if we explore its paradoxes, we find that:

1. Quicksand can work slowly.


2. Boxing rings are square.


3. A guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.






Why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce, and hammers don't ham?


Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends, but not just one amend.


If you have a bunch of odds and ends, and you get rid of all but one of them,


what do you call what is left?






If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught?


If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?



In what other language do people recite at a play, and play at a recital?



We ship by truck but send cargo by ship.



We have noses that run and feet that smell.



We park on a driveway and drive on a parkway.



Why is a slim chance and a fat chance the same thing,




while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites?


You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which:

1. Your house can burn up as it burns down.

2. You fill in a form by filling it out.

3. An alarm goes off by going on.



In closing, if Father is called Pop, how come Mother is called Mom and not Mop?
