should/ should not

If we want to suggest someone to do or not to do something we use "should/ should not". Also we use the form of " to be supposed to ...." as the same thing.


should = khuan jà + verb "ควรจะ"
should not = mâi khuan jà + verb "ไม่ควรจะ"


Example sentences:


SHOULD

- Khun khuan jà phákphàwn mâak mâak
(You should get as much rest as possible.)
คุณควรพักผ่อนมากๆ

- Thoe khuan jà àwkgamlang (gaay) hâi mâak khêun
(You should excercise more.)
คุณควรจะออกกำลัง (กาย) ให้มากขึ้น


SHOULD NOT

- Dèk dèk mâi khuan jà kháo nawn dùek
(Children should not go to bed late.)
เด็กๆไม่ควรจะเข้านอนดึก

- Kháo mâi khuan jà sùup bùríi thîinîi
(He should not smoke here.)
เขาไม่ควรจะสูบบุหรี่ที่นี่


Can you make two sentences using the words "khuan jà" and "mâi khuan jà"?

    i dont quiet understand this sentence "คุณควรจะออกกำลัง (กาย) ให้มากขึ้น" why use ให้ & ขึ้น after？it's a phrase?

    to do something for someone

    Example sentences:
    (You can use both but the first one is more common in speaking.)

    ผู้ชายควรจะทำอาหารดีๆให้ผู้หญิงกิน
    ผู้ชายควรจะทำอาหารดีๆให้กับผู้หญิง

    --------------------------------------------
    "บอกฉันทำไม Bush ไม่ควรจะไปดับ"
    I don't understand the last word "ดับ"
    but the rest is "Tell me why Bush should not ..."

    --------------------------------------------
    Q:"คุณควรจะออกกำลัง (กาย)ให้มากขึ้น" why use ให้ & ขึ้น after?
    A: more = มากขึ้น

    You can drop the word "ให้" but again it's the way people say normally.

    1. คุณควรจะออกกำลังกายให้มากขึ้น
    2. คุณควรจะออกกำลังมากขึ้น

    It's easier to remember the pattern like the second one but it's the first one that you hear when people say it :)

    Ps. Don't forget the word "ผู้" It's "ผ"

    - คุณควรจะขยันให้มากขึ้น
    (You should be more diligent.)
    - เขาควรจะล้างมือให้สะอาด
    (He should wash his hands well.)
    - เธอควรจะกินให้น้อยลง
    (She should eat less.)
